Buen Chico @ Joseph's Well
By Whiskas
Buen Chico are quite simply one of the best bands in the world right now. That sounds like a bold statement, but if you don't believe me go fucking listen to them. They sound like every popular band of the last 50 years, The Beatles, The Stones, The Ramones, The Specials, Sonic Youth, The Strokes yet still manage to have totally lovely non-cliched songs, mainly due to a nice sprinkly of emo in there. It's quite superb guitar-pop.
The sparse non-existant audience in Leeds is too typical for them at the minute, but every songs finishes to a yelp and applaud, "La La La", "I Don't Care" off their CD (worn out I'm sure by most people here) goes down as well as the rest of the set, "Here Comes Your Boy" and many many more future classics.
It's not just the song's it's the style, their coy shyness onstage, the knowing nods to each other when they know they're rocking out and the way they all stick their head down when they're thrashing at their guitars. Go see this band, and if you don't like them, go read the NME and find out what's cool to like!
