Sawthroat

This band is no longer active. It may have split up or changed its name.

Karl - vocals / guitar; Ste - bass; Ant - drums; Woody - lead guitar

In 1997, the foundations of what has now become Sawthroat, were laid. Karl and Ste, after being inspired by the passion and excitement of live music, decided they wanted to make others feel as they did when watching bands at venues in and around Leeds. With this in mind, the band formed and began experimenting with various musical styles, ideas and member line-ups, gigging along the way. The one thing that has always remained the same is that every song has drawn inspiration through life experience, whether it be through the lyrics or in musical expression.

In 2003, with the addition of Ant and Woody, Sawthroat have become an exciting band within the Leeds music scene. Captivating audiences in major venues up and down the country with their unique blend of rock, folk, funk, grunge, and indie, their music is thought provoking, accessible, dynamic and confident.

Never a band to disappoint, Sawthroat always put on an exciting and spontaneous live show.

Sawthroat's rule of playing hard and practicing even harder means they are well on their way to achieving their goal of musical domination!

**NEW EP RELEASE!**

The 7 track EP entitled Slave is Sawthroat's finest. Over the past few months, Sawthroat have developed into an emotional, accessible and confident alt-rock band, touching on various different styles and influences.

This latest CD really brings to light the quality material that has been enjoyed by audiences up and down the country and really shows what a tight band they are.

Get yourselves down to The Fenton this saturday (1st Nov) to see for yourselves. It's all about the passion.

so sawthroat on radio 1 being described as 'the band to watch at the minute'on steve lamaq's show....who would of thought. o.k maybe we have never entirly been a part of the ''leeds scene'' but in the last week we have played two gigs to over five hundred people, are awaiting confirmation of our booking on 'the clarence festival', mentioned as the next big thing on steve lamaq's radio1 show, the panel of 'the wakefield music collective'(AGM) described our gig at the snooty fox as 'awsome' and said 'you totally blew us away'(those who were there)and have written three new songs. we are also progresing nicely through the national battle of the bands and are in the top three bands of 500 as far as points scored by the judges goes. we are recording a new heavier more exciting e.p and basically loving the fact things are finally coming together for us after six years. of yeah if ya want to check us out we are the vine wednesday the fenton saturday and the pack horse next tuesday!?! the shit iz good. not bad for a band with a vocalist who cant sing he he he only kidding? once again thanks for the review it was really useful!
