A Brief History:

The Pretty Machine were formed in Iceland sometime circa May 1999.

Singer / Bassist, Bridles McQueen (20), was a child star at the tender age of 9 years after starring in hit kids TV show, "The Magic Brush", co-starring Andrea / Nadia Spinks. Bridles also had a keen interest in Chess. By the age of 11, after quitting TV, he became the worlds youngest extreme 'Chesser'. The culmination of McQueen's extreme chessing career came when he performed a stunt at the Royal House for Prince Sigurd and Princess Sophie of Iceland.

Ash Pears (18), born locally to Huddersfield folk, arrived in Reykjavik with a Marine Biological Survailence team (BUMA - British Underwater Marine Association) to help save the endangered Icelandic Green Wass.

Richy Lloyd (20) met both Bridles and Ash whilst fitting their skates at an ice rink in Reykjavik (Richy was Junior Skate Champ for the U16s Team). An avid guitarist, Richy learned to play young, and at the age of 13 found himself in local Icelandic Black Metal outfit 'Snyrkyn Nejksnyapa'. Richy never learnt to play guitar properly; only in drop-D - but this is good in Iceland, as it is so cold.

The trio all realised their love of great music, including Queen, Tears for Fears and Sting, and soon started rehersing together. Originally going under the name 'Snyrkyn Wass' the group relocated to Huddersfield, UK, and changed their name to the more English sounding 'The Pretty Machine'.
