The tractor beam slow paced opening holds you just long enough for 'Slither' to explode into its main riff with some good old rock'n'roll "Hey"s before Scott Weiland's deep purr slithers atop of the bass and guitar's grunt. As you'd expect from these guys the riffs are dirty and heavy and induce your hand automatically into devil horns. The half time chorus is perfect, each instrument's notes becoming elongated, including the vocals, before we fire back into the excellent riff. Slash gets to hammer out some high pitched squeals. As you'd expect with the core of Guns n Roses here you're not getting anything too surprising, just dirty rock and roll delivered with style and class. It's sleazy, it's melodic, it's heavy, it's rock'n'roll.
