Goldie Lookin' Chain: You Knows I Loves You

A humourous spoken intro kicks off this latest offering from Newport's favourite Hip Hop masters before a smooth piano led groove gets us underway properly. It's more staple fare from the Welshmen, some good samples put together into a most appealing tune and then given a rather splendid vocal melody, the difference between the GLC and other Hip Hop/RnB acts being the lyrical content.

This is love for the working class "I see you walking on your way home from work, your Tesco tunic really drives me beserk". How innocent and sweet... or maybe not; "my love is waiting for you like a rapist would lurk in a bush". References to Star Wars, Argos, Mecca Bingo and McDonald's mean that as humourous as this is, it's actually something that a lot of people can relate to. This quite possibly is an only slightly exaggerated version of your average Newport couple's relationship.

If you don't like the GLC you will of course hate this. If you like them you will love it. Musically it holds much merit and if you removed the humour from the lyrics I think the critics of the band would have less to dislike about them.

Sorry if this seems disrespectful but is that a serious comment or sarcastic?
I think the song is really funny but half of its appeal is the god-awful backing track that sounds like its from a low budget porno...

Thanks...
