Review of Motley Crue's CD "If I Die Tomorrow"

Motley Crue: If I Die Tomorrow

In December last year cock-rock legends Motley Crue, well known for their drug overdoses and womanising, decided to reform to give music one more crack. "If I Die Tomorrow" is the first single to be taken from new album and greatest hits package "The Red, White and Crue".

The glam-rock scene that the band created all those years ago is long gone but thankfully this latest effort isn't a weak attempt to relive the glory days. Instead like the times the band have moved forward to produce a song that stands alone from old favourites like "Girls Girls Girls".

While older songs were mainly focused on the traditional subjects of sex, drugs and rock and roll, "If I Die Tomorrow" takes on a more serious feel built around a neurotic powerful riff, which pulsates throughout. Gone are the insane solos and over the top theatrics of old. Instead of sleazy vocals and a glam-rock mentality we are given a ride that has clearly been glazed in nu-metal but still whiffs graciously of their traditional trademark values.

Old school fans may be surprised and disappointed that the band have changed but it would have been more ridiculous for them to even attempt to repackage the past for a modern day audience.
