Jetplane Landing: What The Argument Has Changed

"Summer Ends" is the first feel-good hit for the summer, a buzzing guitar-pop mix of lo-fi indie, delicious melodies and "woo hoo hoo" harmonies packaged up into a two and a half minutes Pavement-meets-Ash adrenaline rush. "This is way I think the summer should end", sings Andrew Ferris as Jetplane Landing hum along in effervescent fashion, a true blast of emotion (and a previous 7" single) from the Anglo-Irish four-piece. The A-track on this split single, titled "What The Argument Has Changed", is taken from their debut album, "Zero For Conduct". Less of the pop here, though tear jerking enough to get the emo-kids going; more of At The Drive-In than Ash, whilst retaining a touch of Pavement, it is Ferris' lyrics that again target the listener with emotional outtakes from life's experiences: "fuck you and your opposite sex" - "and if I could make a list of my regrets, you would be at the top of every page, highlighted in red".
