Review of Dead Pad's CD "Untitled"

Dead Pad live in a world of electro metal, blasts of guitar riffage with a female vocalist and plenty of programmed beats and effects. Additional backing vocals flit in and out with an aggressive tone; you know: shouty shouty, deep voice, rah! Face The Day shimmies past me without a glimpse, although the intro got me excited for a short while. What I'd like to hear is a bit of oomph, some solid backbone from drums and bass but both are sadly missing leaving the dynamics lacking. It's a criticism I have throughout. Too singular. Drown In Hope closes up and is a lot better, a touch poppier and with a chorus and melody that allow the listener to show interest and appreciate what Dead Pad are about. I can hear myself singing along, which is no bad thing. Opening the CD was In My Shadow: an impressive metal guitar riff and programming but overall, still not attention grabbing to fully enlighten. For once though, the backing vocals suit: "Sick of tired of everything you are" and at the end of the day, this is probably the best song of a better-than-average but not outstanding record.
