Kaiser Chiefs
By Ste MonAfter attending a sensational Ok Go! gig at Joseph's Well, Kaiser Chiefs' front man Ricky Wilson gave a quick insight into his feelings on the upcoming Brits and how the last 18 months has been for him and the rest of the band.
How do you feel about the Brit nominations?
I'm pleased, Simon is very pleased, and we decided that would be our official answer. It's good, it's funny that I'm going to the Brits Awards, but it's even funnier that we're nominated. But the fact that we're [pulls his collar] the biggest act there is even better.
What are you performing at the Brits?
One of our hit singles. It's pretty obvious which one, I predict it's going to be one of our biggest hit singles.
Which award to do you want to win the most and why?
I don't think we'll win any, I think we're the great white hype. I'd like to win best live coz' I get to keep it!
What was the highlight of the last 18 months?
I had 4 days off in Ibiza and I laid by the pool and had 3 Dan Brown Brookes and swam everyday, it was fun. I recommend Ibiza to anybody.
Any plans for the new album?
We just started writing stuff for it... [Ricky gets distracted by guitarist from Ok Go and after a strange conversation about condoms he resumes talking] ... we've gone back to our old studio.
Has anything changed in the last 18 months?
Nothings has changed one bit, we've only ever had each other and still do, so it's all good.
What's the best thing about coming back to Joseph's Well?
Now I get a proper glass instead of a plastic one, and it's nice that we can come back to a place were Simon and Peanut worked.
What do you want to achieve in the future?
The main goal is at the end of the day is to be happy, married, older daughter, younger son, dog, Range Rover, gravel in the driveway, there's nothing sweeter than the sound of a Range Rover arriving in your drive like that. I think I'm in with a shot of it, maybe live somewhere swanky like Harrogate.
