Despite the misspelling, The Tamborines have a name as obvious as the day is long. Far more interestingly the 3 piece consist of two Brazilians (the nationality not the haircut) and one French drummer, which makes the wall-of-sound Indie influenced by the likes of Teenage Fanclub and The Jesus & Mary Chain all the more surprising. There is also a fair dose of Evan Dando-ish undulating melody at work in the vocals of solo male representative Henrz. Produced by Brian O'Shaughnessy whose credits include My Bloody Valentine, the clues to the Creation style sound become ever clearer. For the main part the two songs here are nice enough, thumping along at walking pace and fattening out the sound with Hammond organ. But as a lasting effect this is territory too well trodden and in no immediate need of a revival. Further work may offer the dynamics required by today's attention span lacking Indie-kid.
