Sky Larkin @ Leeds Festival 2006

By Holden DeForge

With all 3 members adorned in bright yellow Sky Larkin add more sunshine to the afternoon with their rocked up pop tunes. Drummer Nestor thrashes away at his kit as vocalist/guitarist/synth maestro Katie Harkin extends a powerful vocal out to woo in those departing the Radio One tent following the ˇForward, Russia! set across the way. "Traits and Traitors" is a song of some quality and allows Harkin the chance to flex some vocal muscle as the beat slows to a canter before another verse rumbles in and we're carried away with its catchy melody again. The spiky synth sounds of "Somersault Notes" have everyone jerking along in time to its feelgood pop overtures and Sky Larkin leave everyone feeling every bit as bright and chirpy as their t shirts.
