Kaiser Chiefs @ Leeds Festival 2006

By Holden DeForge

The meteoric rise of the local boys continues as they step out on stage in front of a huge "KC" back drop that twinkles in the night sky throughout their set. Chants of "Yorkshire! Yorkshire!" fill the night air as the band add in some new tunes to what seem to have become the nation's favourite pop songs. Ricky Wilson doesn't stop moving around as he works the stage tirelessly whilst the crowd sing along with the band to a rousing version of "I Predict A Riot". The band seem perfectly at home in front of what must be in excess of 50,000 people and bassist Simon Rix leads the pogoing that ensues as the band rip through "Oh My God" and Kaiser Chiefs close the chapter on what has been an incredible rise, with the new songs, and their reception, hinting that it's not one that is likely to end anytime soon.
