Parisman @ Joseph's Well

It has come to my attention that recent reviews in Charm have been of Emerson, Lake and Palmer proportions. I hope to redress the balance back in favour of 2 minute punk songs. Having watched the Syd Barrett documentary before this gig, I find out that I have missed all but the last 1 minute of Chevron's set, which resembles Barrett era Pink Floyd in ambition and sound. Spooky.
When Being 747 take flight, bad jokes are aired and great tunes are played. Praise must be given to bass playing, Moog wrestling. keyboard munching Steve Davies, who manages to play all three during one song.
Manchester's FiLo Radio are a real mix - a Frank Black/singer from Sonic Death Monkey from High Fidelity hybrid on shouting and guitar - a svelte supermodel on bass, which is far too quiet incidentally and the closest approximation to Animal from the Muppet Show on drums.
The songs have elements of The Strokes, The Pixies, Husker Du and Spacemen 3 about them, are loud, and frustratingly tend to stop when the best bit of the song starts kicking in. A band to watch out for. At this point I must confess to missing most of Parisman's set, the bits I heard rocked my world.
