Whirlwind Heat And Lightspeed Champion: How Do You Do?

Don't worry, the sleepless nights are over. You know, the ones you were having about "What happened to the Test Icicles?" It's been tough hasn't it? Hoping that they had just been put down by someone for having a name that belonged in a film starring Martin Lawrence going undercover in a rock band... "Big Mommas Band" maybe. Well the truth is that at least one of them teamed up with Whirlwind Heat and recorded a collection of new material, from which this is the first to be lifted. Former Icicle Devonte Hynes (There's Lawrence's character name right there) has apparently added a more wistful and yearning sound to Whirlwind Heat's heavier fare. Whatever he has added it works well, like a low grade early Foo Fighters or early Weezer thankfully with out all the later "stadium" bollocks. This should please fans of post Nirvana US-college rock and those who gravitate to Queens of the Stone Age melodic brand of rock. B-side In My Dreams is a much more laidback affair with added space noises. Good stuff and worth more investigation even if it is a one off collaboration.
