The Resplendents

pop soul funk

Leeds based The Resplendents formed in 2005 out of a desire to make new music the old way. At the heart of this 8-piece is a rhythm section inspired by the funk and soul of Detroit and Memphis but with one foot firmly planted in Yorkshire. Rich vocal harmonies and duelling saxes combine to create a textured sound that sets them apart from their contemporaries.

The Resplendents are the Dexy's of their day with songs harking back to Burt Bacharach and Jimmy Webb, whilst their live performances mix the spirit of James Brown and the big sound of Arcade Fire.

The 3-track Quetzal EP is the band's first release. Opening track 'Another spin of the wheel' is an instant slice of 3-minute pop, while the soulful 'Better than this' sees the band in more reflective mood. The EP closes with epic floor-shaker 'Fall out with the in-crowd'.
