Review of Parka's CD "Disco Dancer"

Parka: Disco Dancer

I remember getting very excited about Parka when I first saw them at a gig at the end of 2006, and it's been a long time in the coming but at last they've released the high-octane track "Disco Dancer" as their second single. I often hear bands saying how they've got something different to offer but failing to be able to pin-point what they think it is; with Parka it's the inclusion of a saxophone in their line-up that is somewhat unique and adds that extra sax-appeal. Influenced by Britpop bands like Charlatans and more recent bands such as The Rapture, this is just under 3 minutes of sheer unadulterated fun that's sure to be a dancefloor favourite this year.

The single is backed by two b-sides; the slow number "On The Corner" and another punchy song called "The Glass". Although neither song has the same impact as "Disco Dancer" (as you'd expect from b-sides) they're both decent enough songs that should appeal fans of the band.

"Disco Dancer" is an immediate and catchy song that's sure to Parka noticed!
