The Wave Pictures: Just Like A Drummer

Following on swiftly from the release of their 13 track album "Instant Coffee Baby" The Wave Pictures are releasing a 6 track EP "Just Like a Drummer" that includes 5 new tracks as well as the title track, so they're obviously not short on material. Continuing in the same style as the album the songs have a melancholy euphoric ambience with vivid lyrics that tell a short story. Lyrically they're some of the most poetic I've ever heard, with great lines like 'The sun came in like a pack of orange spaniels' (Just Like a Drummer) and 'I didn't lose my sense of humour I gave it away' (Hotels and Motels) that are simply classic. It's a good accompaniment to the album even if overall the tracks aren't quite as strong, it's an essential buy for fans of the band or a good introduction to those who've not yet had the pleasure.
