Rose Kemp: Unholy Majesty

Rose Kemp was born into the music business. The daughter of Maddy Prior and Rick Kemp from British outfit Steeleye Span her first contributions were in 2002 on the album Bib and Tuck' by Maddy Prior And The Girls. She then released her debut album entitled 'Glance' the following year and since then has been developing into what we hear today.

Unholy Majesty is the title of the new album and it does indeed have influences you'd expect from such an album. Taking inspiration from the likes of Black Sabbath all the way along the spectrum to Tom Waits, for example. It's not really for me though. I appreciate what she's doing, it's just all a bit dark for right now. The world needs some happiness and you aren't particularly going to get that from Rose. It's more misery and dread. The ten track album includes pre-album download single 'Nanny's World' which was out in June, as well as tracks entitled 'Milky White' and 'Flawless'. She tours in September.
