Posted in News Article: The Weekends to launch their EP at Cockpit

Radio Leeds:

Lead singer Andy was on Radio Leeds last night talking about the band and the upcoming launch night. Anyone hear it? He was on the show with his brother who will be directing the bands first video. Andy's brother Jonny plays Daryl Morton in Coronation and is keen to take on the project, stepping behind camera for a change. He's previously directed and written for the stage but this will be his first crack at a music video.

Posted in CD Review: Eris - Melody In Mind

To Mr Garnett,

This is nothing to do with Eris, just trying to contact Richard (sorry),

You did a review of my bands first demo CD a while back. We are currently at the mixing stages of our second demo with Carl Rosamond. We're looking to get a review done pretty sharpish as we are launching the CD on 14th September @ Cockpit and want some coverage before hand. Would you be interested in writing a piece if I can get a copy out to you in time once things are complete. Failing that, how about meeting up at the studio for a listen and you can take some notes etc.

Please contact Dave for my email address to let me know either way.

Cheers

Oh yeah, just seen it. It was bad!

To be fair, this Garnett lad has done loads of reviews, think prob more than most on here, so I reckon his tastes will be pretty widespread.

Next time you send out for a review, speak to who handles things and make sure you get it to the right reviewer (someone who knows your style) if thats what ya worried about.

Yet to see this bands live show... But definetely wouldn't mind checking them out. Only heard a few of their tracks off myspace so far.

I've gotta disagree there mate. I was at this one. First time I've seen SU and was quietly impressed. They will grow into it me thinks, And hopes. They've definetely got the potential to step it up a gear over time and the writing of more material. Suppose only time will tell.

"Lets Take A Trip Down Memory Lane"

The Rise will be supporting Manchesters "Northside" @ The Cockpit on 11th December and returning once again to The Cockpit on Friday 22nd December.
For the last 6 months The Rise have been busy replacing their original drummer and spending time in the studio recording new material. The band wanted to finish the year with a couple of gigs to prepare for live shows arranged for 2007.

Posted in CD Review: The Rise - New Situation

The Rise have been away from the live scene for some months now. Working in the studio on the follow up to debut demo "New Situation" and rehearsing with new member Martin Wyment on drums. They headline at the Mixing Tin this Saturday showcasing several new songs and the old favourites. The new CD will be out November time. Until then the band plan on playing live in and around Leeds and continue to work on new material. Hope you can make it down to the Mixing Tin this Saturday. See you there...

Next Gig: 16th September @ Mixing Tin, Leeds.

Great review !!!

Nice to see the reviewer has really listened and taken on board what the band has to offer. Wish all reviews could read like this.

Good work.

I've heard the song...

And I think its SHIT!!!

Sorry :-D

Don't take things so personal. I'm sure "Garnett" as you call him couldn't care less that you think his review is shit.

P.S I haven't heard the single yet I'm sure it's wonderful, groundbreaking, inspiring. :-D

Posted in CD Review: The Wombats - Lost In The Post

"the chorus offers the same ooh, ooh, ooh's. These help you get into the songs, but it might become tiresome if an album is riddled with them."

Agreed, although the Kaiser's album sold very well and was a hit with many people the ever present Arrrrrrrgh leading up to the chorus' became really irritating for me.

Posted in CD Review: Kid iD - Please Tell Your Friends

If you want to find the money for studio time you will. Whether that means picker packing at "Next", stacking shelves at "Asda" for a month or selling "Crack" to young impressionable teenagers. If it's what you want then you'll find the brass.

I'm having to sell a load of gear on ebay to fund our next demo. But I'd rather that than not go ahead with the recording.

Nothing.

I love the Davinas, its full of tw*ts. Music to listen to whats wrong with that.

Your obviously a comedy act so playing a venue like this was bound to backfire. I have the number for my local Liberal club who are coincidentally looking for a comedy turn. Good money as well

Not intending to cause trouble Adam 123 before you jump to conclusions. But I do think this band are extremely over rated. So disapointed by New Fellas album I wanted my money back. Maybe if I saw them live they might win me over as I have heard good things. However I think there is a distinct lack of quality in the songs which even if performed to the highest standard live would still leave the vital ingredient missing, "good songs". Sorry but this band just do nothing for me whatsoever.
