Sending your CD in for review on Leeds Music Scene

Submitting Your CD

Here at LMS we feature a vast amount of reviews of CD singles, albums and demos. Our archives cover bands from Leeds, as well as hundreds more from around the UK and overseas.

IMPORTANT: We do not guarantee that all submitted CDs will be reviewed.

The address for submitting your CD to LMS is:

Leeds Music Scene
PO Box 675
LEEDS
LS1 9DP

If you have a release date for your CD, or are just keen to know when to expect a review please see the following guidelines. These are estimates only and quoted in order to manage your expectations:

  • Please allow for between 1 and 2 weeks from posting for PO Box collection (that is before asking if it has arrived).
  • Please allow for a further 5-6 weeks before a review will appear.

If after around 8-10 weeks a review has not yet appeared, you can assume that you did not make the cut for a review/feature.

More Guidelines

  • Have a look through existing reviews on LMS to determine if we are likely to get whatever it is that your band is producing. There's no point wasting a CD on LMS that could have been sent to a more appropriate website or magazine.
  • We accept CDs from bands of all countries and locations. Your band does not need to be based in West Yorkshire.
  • If you are sending a 7" single, please also include a CD-R copy. Not all of our reviewers have record players.
  • We will not return CDs (whether they were reviewed on our website or not).
  • We will not enter into private correspondence over the review itself. All members of the site may leave public comments on our reviews.
  • Do not ask for a review to be deleted from our archives. By submitting your CD for critical review on a public website, you should be prepared for criticism as well as praise. And remember, reviewers are almost always subjective in their writing (and very rarely objective).
  • Please include no more than a single A4 page of information about your band - we will discard additional pages.
  • It is recommended that you include (as a minimum) your band's website, MySpace and contact details.
  • Please state very clearly (at the top of your information sheet) if your CD has a release date.
  • Avoid sending glossy pictures, photos, cardboard folders and "press packs". They will be discarded.

If your question is not answered, please contact us.
