Nick from Parva has this week announced that the Leeds band is once again on the lookout for a recording contract.

The Cockpit is calling for all local unsigned acts to put themselves forward for the annual Futuresound competition which showcases the best of local talent in a battle of the bands style competition to win a number of fantastic prizes.
O Fracas secure place in final of Red Stripe Music Awards 2008
Leeds band O Fracas have been revealed as one of the four finalists in the Red Stripe Music Award 2008 competition.
My Chemical Romance: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
The inner movie style sleeve of this album describes it as "The story of a Man. A Woman. And the corpses of a thousand evil men..." This is punk rock with a dark side and ever present gothic undertones with passionate and often anguished lyrics focusing around death and heartache ("say goodnight to the heart you break and all the cyanide you drank..." from 'To The End').
Qualia are Leeds University students Gez (vocals and guitar) and Dan (keyboard and backing vocals), who formed a musical partnership just over a year ago and have already attracted substantial record label interest.
Sam and Anna hail from the band "Crash Ride", and are the envy of most musicians, being able to play at this standard and still in their teens.
Huddersfield talent wanted for a forthcoming compilation CD release...
A newly formed Community Music Group is on the look out for Huddersfield talent for a forthcoming CD release.
The 42 Tones: Sloppiness Counts
Ska. There's something about Leeds and ska music. The 42 Tones sit nicely right in the middle of that genre, and from all accounts these are a very young seven-piece band doing quite well for themselves.
'No Association' is urgent, hardcore-influenced rock that builds to a passionate tumult of sweeping guitars and strings.
Listening to the first track provided for me here in neat digital form I marvel at the fact that The Bayonets only formed a few months ago.
Let's get this straight - despite the marketing blurb that was enclosed with this CD describing We The Faceless as 'new grunge', there's nothing particularly new about them.
indie electro rock
Quite simply: wow! The Automatic are one of the rare 'new' bands if you will that seem to me to go from strength to strength after each single; yet seemingly unnoticed.
Garon Shark are a young rock'n'roll four-piece from Huddersfield (what is it with that town?) I'm very impressed with their three-track offering, which suggests a band influenced by a variety of rock bands and styles and showcases an ability to write some excellent songs yet leaving enough room for improvement (without it being an insult to say so).
The Cat's out of the bag - Cloth Cat officially launches....
The Cat is finally coming out of the bag! After being in existence for nearly 8 years Cloth Cat is now making its paw mark with 'The Cat in Hells Dance' event, which to all intents and purposes will be the project's launch.
Hmmm, interesting. On first inspection Kaylium seem to be one to file under the "decent, but not a band to get your knickers in a twist over" section.
There's no doubt that Telegramme frontwoman Faye has a powerful voice. However, she also has an unusual habit of serving her vocals with a helping of random warbling noises and sudden high notes.
I've heard a lot of noise about these guys and with their self titled album, would it get louder or would it have to be drowned out?
Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames @ Brudenell Social Club
Arriving on stage later that billed did nothing to quell These Monsters' instrumental blasts of squalling guitars with blasts of saxophone.
Chickenhawk's debut long-player is an ambitious and heroic montage of many different types of metal. Crunching riffs swing themselves between battering rhythms and off-kilter tempo changes, and are often interspersed with throat-destroying vocal theatrics and glitches of weird electronica.
Inspirita is one of those albums that get better with every listen. It's an album which draws all kinds of influences, from Metal to Jazz.
It's hard to put a finger on it, but whatever it is, Jonjo Feather has it, and he's got it in spades.
Mumm-Ra: These Things Move in Threes
I tend to be a little wary of bands like Mumm-Ra, who take up instruments with the sole purpose of being in a band to pass the time - something all the members of this group admit to.
This Black Velvetine's latest release, the three track EP "Goodbye" reeks of all things sleaze, snot and debauched rock.
rock electronica dance
Various Artists: United Sounds of the HiFi Club
This brilliant compilation showcases a whole music scene that a lot of the other parts hardly touch. American style funk, soul and R&B is not exactly leading edge these days.
The Dirty Skirts: Feeling The Pressure
First impression of 'Feeling The Pressure' is that it tosses together bits of indie and electronica and expects them to sound coherent with minimal effort.
On our breaks at work we like to play a game. This is known as the 'mini challenge', where the first person to spot a mini in the packed supermarket car park wins.
To say this is only New Adventures' second release (and their second single at that) is impressive. The title track is a slab of radio friendly, uplifting rock with the sort of soaring chorus that would give radio-rock superstars Coldplay and Snow Patrol a run for their money.
Ah, how I love Mine with its alluring red leather sofas and twizzly stools. I've only settled in twenty minutes before the dashing Lucky Jim claims the stage as his own playing songs which tell of experiences deeper than we unsuspecting punters could ever imagine and to which said venue doesn't do justice.
After 7 years of showcasing, label bashing and touring, four day Hombre have finally completed their first album. "Experiments in Living" was recorded at Black Box studios in France with Dave Odlum and is set to be an epic of many proportions, if their latest single "The First Word is the Hardest" is anything to go by.
Various Artists: Attack!!!! Issue 9
Every track on Attack!!!! 9 is inspired by a piece of Dutch prose published in the previous issue of the accompanying Attack!!!!
The Big Blue: A Small Drop In The Ocean
Summer is here. It's a beautiful Wednesday morning so naturally I am sat indoors playing Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - the "international cup" [come on EA hand over the licence] quarter final against Brazil.
Biffy Clyro: Singles 2001-2005
A cynical attempt by Biffy Clyro's former record label to cash in on the Scottish trio's newfound popularity?
An evening of contrasts at the New Roscoe was enjoyed by a pleasantly sizable crowd - given that it was a Wednesday night and clashed with the nation's prima donnas kicking a bag of wind with scant success - proof, if proof be need be, that live music at grass roots level is alive and kicking.
Vessels @ Brudenell Social Club
The Brudenell has played host to a number of extremely special shows in recent times, and tonight Vessels laid down a pretty good claim as to why this should go down as one of them. The homecoming gig of their UK tour, tonight showcased some of the very best in emerging talent from Leeds, culminating in one of the finest shows Radio One's favourite unsigned band have ever performed.
Often, during times of contemplation (for which read: "hangovers") I wonder what the point of music actually is.
The Royal Park Cellars has a rapidly growing reputation, and gets better every time you catch a band down here.
Guillemots: Through The Window Pane
If Guillemots could invite anyone, living or dead, over for a dinner party, the table would look something like this.
A sparsely populated Rocket bar greets us tonight, surprising considering who is playing but nevertheless, we obtain some drinks and make our way to two of the twelve spare stools.
Pifco are one of those bands you're either going to love or hate. The first potential deal-breaker is frontman Ste's habit of barking incoherently rather than singing, which will leave a good many people scratching their heads before switching 'Pifco A Go Go' off.
Hidden behind a Wakefield office block lies the Snooty Fox. After a chance meeting with Xi, we get directions to the venue, which is to be part of Xi's whirlwind tour of the Mainland's shores.
Local showcases are always unpredictable and without pretense thus making them top reviewing candy. Occasionally rousing, sadly more than often easily forgettable and very very rarely awe-inspiring.
There's always been a place for humour in music. All the best bands had wit without being cheesy and over the top with it, and tonight proves that humorous observations and amusing asides don't mean you have to be the Grumbleweeds.
Andy Roberts reaquaints himself with the punk pidgin-French world of Leeds' very own twisted firestarters: les Flames!
I give you fair warning. I am about to break the ancient, time-honoured and globally respected code of the International Covenant of Authors, Note-Takers, Writers, Reviewers, Interviewers, Talkers and Editors (or ICANTWRITE for short) covering the critique of musical releases and/or performances on precisely 2 counts. In fact one of these has already been broken. So apologies if this warning comes too late in the day and has already caused you unnecessary distress.
