This was my first visit to the Hard Rock and I was expecting great things. Apart from Jimi Hendrix's belt the venue disappointed slightly, but neither of tonight's acts did.
Joff Whitten is a rather talented boy: a solo performer he mixes an acoustic guitar, a bass and wistful vocals, throws them all into a loop, swaps instruments, generates layer-upon-layer and comes out with some rather intriguing folk-pop.

Juno 2 are a band I've heard a lot about but only seen play live once. They didn't particularly blow me away on that occasion, although I seem to remember thinking at the time that they had some good songs and could be great, if only they'd perform a little.
There are many gigs that you go to knowing in advance that it's going to be very good and there are those much rarer ones that you hope will end up being more than just a great gig.
When I got there I was not sure who was supporting the Donnas and had no great expectations of them. The room took ages to fill up and I thought that it may be quiet due to other gigs taking place in Leeds, but as the SAHARA HOTNIGHTS took to the stage the room was nicely filling up.
It's around 9 o'clock when I wander down to Carpe Diem, feeling a little dazed and inebriated. (I blame the afternoon spent in the pub celebrating degree results).
