Naked Flames: Animal Love

To say this is a comedy-metal record, I didn't find anything particularly funny or metal about Naked Flames' new album, okay so there a few bits that made me chuckle and brought a smile to my face but I'm quite miserable as it is so it really wasn't enough to keep my attention throughout.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ Blank Canvas

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. They have a reputation of being, well, quite melancholy. The venue, or underground cave, we are standing in, should suit them perfectly.

Harmacy: Untitled

Bradford slacker rock outfit Harmacy are a bit of a find. I've never heard of them before but if they're gigging locally I'd recommend checking them out.

Band Profile: Oui Bee

Oui Bee's solo career began when she joined the 'Hydrogen Jukebox', an alternative Cabaret, music and comedy forum in Darlington, where she was quickly snapped up as the resident songwriter/performer...

Parisman @ Joseph's Well

Mungo Hump sounded as proficient as they did interesting as they blasted through their first two songs but the set averaged out from that point onwards.

5ft4 @ Joseph's Well

There's always been a place for humour in music. All the best bands had wit without being cheesy and over the top with it, and tonight proves that humorous observations and amusing asides don't mean you have to be the Grumbleweeds.

The Playmates @ Cockpit

Something's in the air tonight at The Cockpit and it's not just the smell of the Leeds music scene's great and good as they sweat profusely in the mid-Summer's heat which stifles the city's infamous indie club.

The Glitterati @ Cockpit

Firstly an apology. I'm going to get a bit nostalgic in this review. Please bear with me. Back in the crazy days of the Leeds Music Scene (circa 2001) I saw a band play several awesome gigs at The Well.

Gruff Rhys @ Hebden Bridge Picture House

With his second solo album "Candylion", Gruff Rhys has produced one of the most charming records of the year and tonight is a chance to witness the Welsh genius at work in the flesh.

The Icarus Line @ Cockpit

Colour of Fire, acclaimed local(ish) alt-rockers, opened up tonight in front of a reasonable crowd. Having just finished a considerable UK tour, they didn't seem at all tired, or perturbed to back in their regular gigging territory.

four day Hombre @ Joseph's Well

I was looking forward to this gig as I knew pretty much nothing about goad and Leafeater and hadn't seen four day Hombre for almost 10 months.

Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies @ Leeds Festival 2005

"Hello, we've got a wake-up call for a Mr. Ramsden here. Yes, a bunch of tracksuit wearing oiks are waiting for you on the main stage, they said something about your mother looking for a pianist?".

Bobby Conn @ Joseph's Well

So it's my first time back at the Well since that whole unfortunate 'incident' when The Stills overran by about six hours or something.
