Stephen Fretwell @ Cockpit

Valentine's Day and yet the Cockpit brims with expectation tonight and many of the young lovers making up the crowd know that a sure guarantee of romance will come from the lilting serenade of Stephen Fretwell.

Stephen Fretwell: The Lines

From start to it's "all too soon" finish this is a well constructed / crafted delight. Five songs and a reprise of pure young man's emotion put into song.

Stephen Fretwell @ City Varieties

In a modern world where singersongwriters are hotter than ever, unfortunately the bland James Blunt and beautiful Daniel Powter rule the airwaves.

Jamie Lidell @ Across The Tracks Festival 2006

Jamie Lidell is an absolute nutter. Appearing as a diamond geezer dressed in silken bathrobe with gold rope strung loosely, provocatively, around his torso, he headbangs and face-pulls like a schizo on strychnine whilst a masked figure with white wires and whiskers coming out its face lurks about setting up cameras and sending disturbingly delayed footage to the screen at the back before propping up a mannequin's dismembered hand (which is, nicely, impaled on a metal pole, just in case you weren't freaked enough) in front of Lidell's mad-scientist decks; then leaves it to turn, slowly, in a revolving, demented circle.

Nathan Burton: Untitled

The six tracks on offer here feature 3 already released so it's a little bit like going over old ground.

Nathan Burton: It's Hard To Sell Your Home

Not the most inspiring of song titles, unless you are struggling to sell your home and want a theme tune by which to suffer.

Steve Sanderson: Not For Mass Consumption

A clear lover of Bob Dylan, Steve Sanderson is one man and his guitar on this album of 11 songs of folk blues, ever so occasionally joined by associates on bass and adding a touch of harmonica and electric where appropriate.

Band Profile: The Breech

Leeds based four-piece, The Breech, were formed in July 2001 and have developed a deeply musical and distinctly unique sound.

Line up announced for Across The Tracks festival

The line up for Across The Tracks, the two-day festival (29/30th July) that takes place in the Leeds city centre, has been announced this evening.

Various Artists: Dream Brother - The Songs of Tim and Jeff Buckley

The point of a covers album? Mainly it's to get a fresh and exciting new perspective on old classics, but when those old classics are nigh on perfect, do we really need this album?

Micah P Hinson: Yard of Blonde Girls

Jeff Buckley drowned in the Wolf River in Tennessee on the eve of recording his sophomore studio album My Sweetheart the Drunk in 1997.

Over fifty bands to play as part of the Live At Leeds music celebrations this May

To coincide with Leeds celebrating its 800th birthday this year, Leeds City Council and promoters Futuresound have put together a ground-breaking city-wide, three-day music festival over the second May Bank Holiday weekend (25th, 26th and 27th May) with hopes that the event will become an annual event on the music scene's calendar.
