Did you hear the one about an unknown band from Teesside, the guy who runs a Smiths night and the room upstairs in The Fenton?
The basic Samskara sound is a rasping flush of rockish guitar riffs, led cheeringly into the foothills of sexual conquest by the bright-voiced hollering of tomcat youth.
Right, I'll get my disclaimers out of the way first: I don't write reviews anymore as a rule but it was the only way I could blag into the gig for free.
Alec Empire: Intelligence And Sacrifice
Digital Hardcore - how aptly named is this record label? You'll not read a better description of Alec Empire's double-CD album in the remainder of this review so save yourself time, stop reading and get yourself down to your local record shop to purchase a copy...
First up tonight in this the first Bone of the year is the mighty The Seven Inches, and special mention must go to singer Ian (or Crazylegs as some of us know him) - he's become a proper frontman, camper than Pete Shelley and possessing all the synchronisation dancing wise of summat very asynchronous indeed.
I know I shouldn't complain but what is happening? We've buggered it on the global warming front. Upstairs in The Fenton was the last place I wanted to be on this overly heated Friday evening, if it wasn't for the superb line up of melodic punk bands.
So I ventured to the Fenton of a Friday night... and an interesting night was had by all. Two bands were playing in the upstairs room, headlining were Punk band JBH and in the support role was a metal band called 8 DAY DECLINE.
Ambient, alternative music is on the cards tonight in the ridiculous upstairs room of the Atrium. Peasman, aka.

The upstairs room at the Cardigan Arms is a perfect place for an acoustic gig. With its small, dark room, the atmosphere is made even better by the dozen or so candles that are situated around the room, creating a very intimate feel to the whole place.
Poor Pifco. Unfortunately for them, the organisers of tonight's event, Tiny Cat, haven't realised that for those living outside of the city centre the cutoff point is basically about 11pm.
It's nights like this that show what's great about the Leeds music scene. As I'm walking to the Well it pisses it down.
The Tennessee Traincrash @ The Vine
The intimate carpet, curtains and ceiling lights of the Vine's upstairs room dispense a surreal good humour to all who have entered the packed-out space, up here on the edge of abnormality.
Joseph's Well in Leeds have played host to some rather well-known bands if their posters are anything to go by - and over the last few months it seems like they've booked mostly Biffy Clyro support bands (thisGirl, The Boxer Rebellion, X is Loaded and some little London outfit named Brigade...).
Daniel Powell and Alexisonfire's Dallas discuss everything from gig etiquette to the band's previous albums, and everything in between
Illusion of Intelligence @ The Royal Oak (Halifax)
Remember the film 'Twins'? McBain... I mean Arnold Schwarzenegger, plays the fitter, happier, more productive brother of Danny DeVito in a hilarious tale of family, fun and fisticuffs.
Mmmmm it's a bit nippy out! So I took the car, unfortunately the heater took so long to get going I was still cold (going blue actually) when I arrived.
