The Delgados: All You Need Is Hate
"Hate is everywhere, inside your mother's heart you will find it there." Cheery bunch the delgados. Much like Warren Zevon, the downbeat lyrics are countered by a bright and chirpy, melodic party, the kind where you feel all are welcome to sing and clap along.

Last Night's TV: Daylight Between The Blades
After an initial listen to this CD I'm struggling to make myself listen to it again. I kind of want to prove myself wrong that it wasn't as bad as I thought first time round, but it does take me a while before I force myself to slide it in the CD tray again.
SAMMYUSA take a while to warm up, delivering a couple of songs that consist little more than controlled feedback - as well as the addition of a vocal sample in the opening instrumental.
The opening bars of the mistitled "Orgasm" are beautifully done. A well controlled and very sweet guitar phrase leads into Anthony Slattery's very good vocal delivery on a big open song.

Sound checks and vocal warm ups came to the forefront this week as the first of the 15 bands taking part in Leeds Leisure Services 'Bright Young Things 2003', took to the stage for their debut in the Crypt of the Town Hall.
Having originally burst on to the radar in 2003 with their brilliant and acclaimed demo "Subtractive", it has been too long before Anechoic produced a follow up.

God love Alkaline Trio, the unflappable red and black macabre attack are one of those one-of-a-kind bands that unassailably distinguish themselves from the pack and become a staple ingredient of your listening diet with inherent ease.
